Into my heart an air that kills From yon far country blows: What are those blue remembered hills, What spires, what farms are those? This is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain. The happy highways where I went And cannot come again. - A.E. Housman (1859-1936)

Poetry Reading

Though it might be a tad late, I wish to document that the Krutulis family - including Herbie - visited us for dinner and an evening's entertainment a few days before New Years. Of course, our son, David, and his family - including Bailey - were there, also - along with David's twin brother, John.

After a nice chicken casserole dinner (thanks, Lillie!) we adjourned to the living room for a round of "Wise and Otherwise." Joe and Anastasia Krutulis seemed to have the handle on this game. Then we took turns reciting poetry. The unabashed best poetry reciting had to be that of Mark Krutulis who did a stunning rendition of "The Raven" which included dimmed lights to add to the atmosphere. Mark not only had memorized this lengthy verse but he even very dramatically adjusted his vocal output so that, at times, he barely whispered. We were all literally on the edge of our seats.
